The Parish Council works closely with Father Pat, sharing pastoral responsibility across our Parish. We devise and support activities which bring our two parishes together and nurture a lively community spirit.

We aim to respond to the needs of the Parish and as such our work is often dictated.

Greetings from Sister Victoria as the new Chair of our Parish Pastoral Council (P.P.C.).

“I was asked to introduce myself and let you know a little about my background.

I am a Religious of the Assumption, http://www.assumptionreligious.org currently living in Reading caring for my Mother. I am honoured to  be the chair of the Pastoral Council of Christ the King which is a vibrant multicultural parish. Working with Fr Pat Madden our priest, we aim to  involve everyone in the life of the parish and offer ideas and support for spiritual  and social wellbeing.

I have spent my working life in Catholic education, teaching  in primary schools and  was for  seventeen years a Catholic schools' adviser, inspector in the Archdiocese of Westminster.  Following that I was appointed National Project co-ordinator at the Catholic Education Service.

I am a member of the Bishops' Conference Department for Catechesis and Evangelisation, which gives me a an interesting and wide view of the working of the Church in England and Wales and especially the during this Year of Faith.   I am passionate about offering children the opportunity to  know and love Jesus Christ, to that end I have written several  religious books for children.  The religious programme for children not attending Catholic schools; I Call You Friends   the National Project  produced with the help of  diocesan advisers.

At present I am engaged in co-ordinating the new religious education programme  for Catholic primary schools called Come and See  which I have written with the help of diocesan advisers. That  involves the inservice of teachers in numerous dioceses.

Sister Victoria Hummell,”
